Default Damn you, german engineers

Right. So I picked up my super nice set of Fastway footpegs. I put in all the little studs and admired my awesome handy work. Yeah, I'm not the manual type, so to me it was awesome

I got down and dirty with a toolset, getting the retaining clip of the pin that holds the old footpeg and started wiggling it out. Uhh ohh. Gear selector is in the way and will have to come off. No problem I say, reaching for the oh so wonderful POS toolkit that came with my GSA. Uhhhmmm, no. Just NO. No frigging tool in there to remove that poxie bolt on the gear shift.

So back goes the old footpeg. And of course, living in a place like Qatar, there are NO decent automotive shops to get tools from. So now I will probably order a toolset from the States.

Grrrr, I fuming .

Don't order a set. Pick and choose the tools that you want. You pay extra for the set and often are paying for tools that you don't need, too. As for the shift lever retaining screw... A 1/4" box wrench will fit if you can find one locally.

And if you order tools - order them from Europe, not the US. You'll get high quality tools (e.g. Proxxon) for a pretty decent price. I very much prefer Hazet over Snap-On but in the US Hazet is worth it's weight in gold ... at least it feels like it.

Over time I will order bits and pieces through Amazon Germany, have them shipped to friends and send to me as gifts.
