I have an 08' 1200GS and I was thinking of fitting a Staintune slip-on muffler.Has anyone fitted one of these,do they make any difference performance wise?I thought the 08' model had a less restrictive muffler anyway, any opinions out there.

I put a Stainture can on my K1200GT and the only thing I could tell was it was louder. I switched back after I got a "loud muffler" ticket when I passed through Myrtle Beach, SC. My '09 GSA has the stock exhaust system on it. Slip-ons are, to me, a placebo effect. Hey, if you like the sound, though, go for it. I'll probably get nailed for this but, in my opinion, if you want more power, do an entire header system and go with a power commander to meter the fuel/air mixture. Be aware that, without these measures, you my get a little more power with the header system but the "improvement" will probably be at the tall end of the power band. You may want to re-cam to get the power band back into the usable range. Mike Last edited by mikec; 26-Jun-2011 at 01:08 PM (755). Reason: typo |
