Default Sore A_S

What can anybody recommend as a replacement seat for a 2010 Adventure for a rider with a slight spinal problem who also suffers with a numb bum after 2hours in the saddle?

Depends upon the kind of spinal problem. For some a forward leaning position is more comfortable and for others a back leaning position is just the trick. For a sore butt you can try an air hawk, sheepskin, beads, or any after market saddle that gives you wider wings to support more of your butt.

I've found a sheepskin on the stock saddle set in the front high position and low rear position is adequate. A high mileage day for me is about 600 miles, with most in the 350 ~ 450 range. What works for me may not work for you.

Smile sore butt

suffer the same problem, 200 miles MY seat goes numb should receive my custom Bill Mayer seat tomorrow, reports from fellow riders say it should cure the lousy seat that comes standard on our bikes. 2011 GS

Just installed my Russell Day Long and immediately took a 250 mile 5 hour jaunt. Completely forgot about numb butt and it wasn't even broken in yet. Highly recommended. Not cheap but your a-- will thank you.

The stock seat shape bothered me on longer rides too. It offered little support on the outside edges and sloped forward. Many people even with aftermarket seats remedy the slope by setting the rear in the low position.
Everyone's different. My friend swears by his airhawk on his WeeStrom so that may be a $100 option. I like Corbin seats, preferring the shape and firm foam they offer. Didn't care for the puffy cover and stitching on their standard R1200GS seat though. So I just called them and had them make me one using their original style textured vinyl. I also asked them to build up the front a little to eliminate the forward slope and mentioned I want to sit as far rearward as possible. It arrived a few weeks later. I rode it across country and back and never even thought about the seat, which is a good testimonial I guess.
