Default Printing hard copy of factory Service Manual

Has anyone tried to print the service manual from the ($108) CD? The FD rebuild conversation (next door, adv) made me start looking at the information I have.
The format is odd. Each step has a page, which is great. But for the rider/mechanic, not so much. The information seems to be there, but not in a 'take it apart and put it back together' format.
I am a little afraid to try printing it end to end. I suspect that I will get a dozen copies of the first step of any process. Half a dozen of the second step. Funny that I own the Factory Service Manual, and I'm still looking for the Haynes/Chilton ones.
I see it from both sides. Oil seal goes bad, fix the oil seal. Oil seal seems to have gone bad? Why? Because the FD is grinding itself up.
I would rather have the instructions from beginning to end, and ignore the parts I don't need. Hunting through the manual to find the information that I need got old. Fast. Pre loads and what not. Measurements. Facts.
I didn't mean to rant. I just wanted some insight on a methodology to pursue. Printing the Service Manual out in a useable format...

FWIW I have a sense that the day of the factory service manual for any motor vehicle, that is usable by us mortals
is almost over. In its place from the manufacturers prospective is computer trouble shooting
with error codes and chase around, with if this do that threads, with their own proprietary software.

But good on you for trying to get all the tigers on their stools.

Our only foot in the door is the aftermarket publishers who seem to do
a pretty good job...oh yes, and the forums.

I have printed out a procedure or two using whatever version I have ('06?). I used CutePDF to print as a PDF file. That let me look at the results before committing to paper.
