Default Triangles in oil temp and fuel quantity

Does anyone know what the small triangles are for in the oil temp and fuel qty gauges? On my '08 1200GS the oil temp one is just about even with gear position box lower line. The fuel side is just above the last bar at the bottom.

Hmm, no one must know. I first thought they might be a "telltale" to show how high the oil temp had been or how low the fuel level had been. Or they could be production test point indices.

Rick, on the fuel side my understanding is that is the level at which the tank goes into reserve.

I'm beginning to think that they are for normal indices for minimums for the fuel and normal maximum for the oil temp. I looked at some of the K bikes owners manuals and they had the indices in the same places for fuel and coolant temp.

2011 1200gs on the temp side indicates normal operating range fuel side i do not have one unless it only comes on with fuel warning
