Default 1150 Rider

I purchased a 2004 1150 GSA this fall and have enjoyed this bike. The price range I was in had me thinking just spend a couple grand more and get a newer GS1200 with more miles. I am afraid to ride a newer 1200GSA in fear of signing loan papers . My 2004 is paid for and suspect I SHOULD BE happy with what I have. I tend to ride solo, coming off of touring bikes the wife despises the bike. So my solo rides are good for me, I tend to spend more hours in the saddle than my riding buddies or wife care to. I have been exploring more gravel roads and B level roads and the bike was litterally made for riders like myself I believe. I have only put 5K miles on the bike and was thinking upgrading to like a 2009 or newer GSA. I would like the extra power and less weight. But then my mind wanders and suspect more travelling on a paid off bike. My current ride only has 45K miles so I think I will ride it all next year and enjoy what I have. Then when the liquid cooling arrives I am hoping air cooled prices may drop. Maybe. I am right 40% of the time. Anyway I guess there is no point to this post other than to expose my inabitlity to keep one bike for extended periods. When I ride this bike it just fits and I feel like I am "in the zone" if you know what I mean. Winter is here and it sucks For those of you in the southern states I hope you realize how lucky you are. Rant finished

I undersand what you are saying while the dealer was fixing a faulty fuel pump on my F650 GS I took a ride on a used GSA. I knew instantly I wanted one, and a week latter I had one. I bought a new 2012 as the used one was real low mileage and and ungrading three years and a warrany wasn't that much more. I had bought a kawaski Vulcan earlier and never felt like i was connected to with it. It was almost an instant feeling that this is the bike I want. I am hoping to find a few more days riding but N. IL time is getting short. They already dumped a load of salt on the state roads, luckily it was washed off over the weekend.

I am already thinking I might have to take a winter vacation and hual the bike south so I can ride, ride, ride. I am old enough that I better do it while I can.
