This belongs in GPS Info... so that's where it now lives

Default Garmin on my GS

Brand & model: Zumo 660
Cost: used $600
Color/ B&W: color
What you like: waterproof, media player, bluetooth, saving routes and waypoints after a trip
Display quality: great
What you dislike: bluetooth audio quality w/phone sucks, but it's fine in my helmet; power button sticks sometimes
Downloadable maps: Yes
Can you create customized routes? Yes

I mounted mine on a Touratech lockable mount which is attached to the factory GS accessory bar. Makes it easy to see and reach.

Rate your gps on the following criteria:
Brand & model: Garmin Nuvi 550
Cost: $250
Color/ B&W: Color
What you like: small size. Waterproof. Price was good.
Display quality: OK
What you dislike: no QWERTY keyboard option. snapping it into the RAM cradle I bought with it cannot be done with the power cord attached.. Grrr. so that means trying to blindly get the mini-usb plugged in or swiveling the mount to see where that little f_cker is.
Downloadable maps: Yes
Can you create customized routes? Yes

So far, I'm happy with this unit..

Thumbs up

I'm thinking of the 550 as my next gps unit, it looks like the best combination of cost/features.

Default Zumo 660

Brand & model: Garmin Zumo 660
Cost: $650
Color/ B&W: color
What you like: Main display details (i.e. - altitude, ETA, dist. to turn, etc.). Also love the logs it records automatically...you can see trip time, altitude profile of the whole trip, etc.
Display quality: Good
What you dislike: Slow when you want to move map around..it 'redraws' over itself...very strange. Also not good at displaying street names...that sucks. And, when a call comes in (have bluetooth headset) the display always shows the wrong 'who's calling' (seems to be the same place calling each time and is definitely wrong).
Downloadable maps: Yes
Can you create customized routes? Yes, but have not used this feature

Why do you guys pay so much for a GPS.
I bought a used tom tom one xl, & a cheap ram mount on ebay, all for about $60 Australian.

$800
$600

Are you all crazy?.
