Smile GPS mounts

Hi to everyone for the first time!

After many years of enjoying Japanese & Italalian sports bikes I have evidently reached a certain age as I recently bought an R12GS.........and not only do I enjoy riding it but I wouldnt swap it for all the bikes/tea in China. What a proper bit of kit!

I will be doing 'Lemans', Bol d'Or and Nurburgring etc next year and intend buying the TomTom Rider system and would like a mounting kit up by the instruments rather than headstock or handlebar mount. Does anyone have any advice on the best mount kit, or indeed , Nav system?

It's more expensive but IMHO you can't beat the Navigator II Plus (or the new Navigator III) system by Garmin. It's built especially for the GS. It is easy to mount. You can use it with gloves. It works like a charm. Garmin gives very good customer service.

The TomTom looks interesting but I have never tried it.

Garmins 2610 can be had now for a mere £180.

As for mounting, I've just bought a Migsel mounting plate (check out www.ukgser.com for that) and I'm waiting for my ram cradle/arm and power:audio lead to arrive (from GPS Warehouse). There's also www.motorradconcepts.co.uk who can help you in your quest.

I have a Tom Tom Rider and enjoyed it very much. Price has come down over the past year as well.

I hard wired the furnished bracket and mounted to the handlebars and it works extremely well without vision impairment.

I wanted to buy an aftermarket bracket and have failed to find one that cradles / stabilizes the unit when mounted on the bike.

The internal battery works well for about 5 hours. It takes 4 hours or longer to recharge with the charger. If this is not a problem for you then fine.

I would go directly to Tom Tom for your mount request. Get them to furnish a part number and vendor. Make sure you can get the part before you spend the big bucks.

Default TT Mount & Navigator

I recently changed out my stock '05 GS windscreen for a GSA windscreen. As a result, I added the TT mount for the Garmin Navigator. I like this mount as it affords upgrades in GPS plus it provides a relative un-obstructed view of the gauges.

I have the TomTom Rider2, but wish I had bought the Garmin Zumo or similar. No tracking on TomTom, can't download where you've been.

Default Tom Tom Bike 1

The worst thing about the TTB1 is the idiot on/off switch . I upgraded to a zummo 550. Have never looked back
