Thor, You have several options...
- You can use the battery cable coming with the Zumo to power the Zumo. - You can buy an inexpensive Zumo-BMW accessory port cable to power the Zumo. (http://www.powerletproducts.com/) - You can buy a BMW plug to wire to the harness near the steering (where BMW plugs in their BMW Nav GPS's) - Can run the Zumo off its chargeable battery, though I believe the music functionality will not work off batteries. HTH. |

Yes. I just did this the other day. Takes about ten minutes. Connect the cable coming with the Zumo to the battery, run it up under the tank to the steering head, tie it down and you're ready to connect it to your mounted Zumo. It's a great device.

I have a MigSel mount with a short ram arm for my Zumo. I fitted the extra power socket to the beak and ran the powerlead straight to that. There is a hidden plug taped near the headstock which you can tap into which obviously ties into the canbus, but many prefer to simply wire straight to the battery like sfarson has pointed out.

The zumo is great. Works perfectly for almost all applications. The only down side is off road. When you use your gps for off road it usually is fine. But if you are well off the beaten path, and you like to save and edit some of your trail riding, some times a different gps may work better. If you plan to spend more time on road, get the zumo.

Done mine tonight. Funneled garmin power cable to rear and fitted auxilary power socket male - this give you the powered switched option working with your ignition and no pwer drains etc. I am definitly purchasing the extra option of another power outlet fitted at the cockpit as the extra power point is also switched.
