BMU WEDNESDAY RIDES
All welcome to join in Meet: Blaxland McDonalds, GWH, BLAXLAND, NSW for a 9.00am Start Ride Leader: John McC Ride Report/Videos: Eric B 26th May, 2010 Destination: Lake Wallace – Wallerawang 33°24'54.46"S 150° 4'42.22"E Map link http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=d&s...,0.883026&z=10 It was raining when I left home at 8:00am on Wednesday morning and the weather forecast was for heavy rain in the morning with possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. I arrived at McDonalds to find John McC there sheltering a under the trees and the rain was coming down quite heavy. There were some new riders there waiting, there was Michael Freezing, Bobbie Cold, Harry Slippery, Johnny Wet, and Les Miserable. It was decided that we would go to Lake Wallace for the day’s ride. We would stop at the service station just this side of Lithgow for morning tea. John McC would lead the ride and I would be tail end charlie. We left at 9:00am and headed up the great western highway, Harry Slippery was having a little bit of trouble keeping a straight line and Michael Freezing and Bobby Cold were really close together, Johnny Wet needed some air in his tires as he was getting heavier by the minute, traffic congestion was still the same as usual where they are doing the road alterations. It was slow going down Mount Victoria and Harry Slippery was having quite a considerable amount of trouble staying on the black stuff. We were held up by traffic just after the speed camera were they are widening the road as there had been a bad accident as usual to speed in the wet weather. We got to the service station just before Lithgow where we stopped for morning tea. It did not matter what we said, we could not get Les Miserable to smile, and Bobby Cold was trying to get warm. Eric was too busy cleaning his bike and did not even stop for coffee as his bike had got dirty coming down the pass. We continued on and turned off to go to Lake Wallace, there was a fork in the road but on further examination it was only one of those plastic ones from Macdonald. We had lunch at Lake Wallace but as soon as we got there Eric had to chamois his bike again before he had lunch, while we were sitting there a couple of ducks came up and were driving us “quackers”, just wanting to be fed. There was one that came under the table to be fed so I had to “duck” under the table, I could have grabbed it but then if I did I would have had to take it home and “pluck” it and sometimes I lisp and that word doesn't come out correctly. We had lunch and decided we would head for home as the boys were all crowding around Les Miserable, and Johnny Wet was, and getting heavier by the minute. We said our goodbyes and I continued on back down to St Marys after having not done that much at all for today, but then when you consider we have not had much rain this year to spoil our riding days. So ride safe and enjoy every minute while you can, cause you never know what is around the corner. Regards Eric Baldwin. You probably think I am a wally when you read this but if somewhere along the line if this has put the slightest smile on your face, then it has done what I intended it to do. Footnote Lake Wallace is available for fishing where you may catch Australian Bass, Brown and Rainbow Trout. There are picnic areas and barbecues and there is a launching ramp for canoes and kayaks only, you will need a fishing license if you are not a pensioner as you do not need a fishing license if you are on a pension, motel accommodation is handy and also a local caravan park, the lake is not available for powerboat use
