Default Sequoia park campout

Last weekend was the local breakfast club annual ride to Sequoia National Park for a 2 night campout. It wasn't a long trip in miles. It was quite enjoyable.

Only three bikes this year. Of course I was on "the mule":

Great RR. How are you liking those tires?

Not so much. At least not the front. It whines worse than the most obnoxious BMW owner. And that's when wearing my earplugs. It also likes to follow any road imperfection going in the direction of travel. That characteristic also leads to a loose front end when riding on grooved concrete pavement.

It is not bad enough to change, but when it wears out I'll likely go back to the TKC-80 on the front. The rear seems fine, so far. Haven't tried them in the wet, yet.

There was another rider in the campground where we stayed who came in from the Fresno side of the park on Friday. He was very lucky as he hit the "mostly closed for construction" part of the road about 10 AM. It opened at 11:30 to let him through. Had he missed the 11:30 window he'd have been stuck until after 5 PM.

If you're visiting the park, bike or car, in the near term plan ahead. You can get from the big trees to Kings Canyon by other routes, but it will add many miles.
