After riding down to Prato in Italy to watch Rossi ride at Muggelo, we set off back home on Monday morning at 06:30 and planned to re-trace our steps home, Genova - Dijon - Calais - Home over the next three days.
However at our first fuel stop we met a British guy, open face helmet, smoking a roll-up, wearing wellies, on a Suzuki Hyabusa, he couldn't understand why we should stop on the way back at all, as he does this trip several times a year. Off he rode with a new roll-up lit and we started thinking, yes we could do this......so off we went again, fuel stop after fule stop. Sun up, sun down (Dijon) sun up (M11) and home by 06:36 Tuesday morning, fantastic. I've had a few choice words from friends and family about this "foolish stunt" but it felt so good at the time. 1,188 miles in 26 hours 6 minutes. The GS never missed a beat, at 80-90mph all the way back, good girl. Last edited by Simon Scott; 20-Aug-2011 at 08:23 AM (557). Reason: Spelling mistake |

Thats a fair run mate, have you heard of the "SaddleSore 1000". Think you may have qualified.

Stu, thanks for the link, if I had known about this before I set off I could have qualified with all the paperwork, however, as I stated I didn't know we were going to do this, it just happened after our first fuel stop.
I would love to hear from other GS riders who have done this sort of distance. Just one note of detail, I did the ride on my GS Adventure, my mate I was riding with did it on his Ducati 848!! ouch! he could only manage a 90 to 100 miles before needing to fill up, so we had a leg stretch every 90 mins or so.
