Default 04 February 2010 - The Natural Reserve of Capo Rama and the Castle of Carini (PA)- Si

ALL PICS HERE

Moto used: BMW R 1200 GS

Stages: Palermo-Terrasini-Montelepre-Partinico Cinisi-Carini-Tower-Palermo

Nations visit: Italy

Visited regions: Sicily

Km covered: 110

Duration: half day

For days I was behind the forecast. After weeks of rain and bad weather finally a beautiful day of sunshine and clear sky. Are 08.00 and from the balcony of the house (photo DSC 3561) leaves no doubt what I see, today I go out on the bike! Crossing via the Sicilian Region, in the chaotic traffic in the morning, I head for Montelepre through SP1. With just a few kilometers to leave behind the "chaos" and immerse themselves in absolute peace. From a magnificent view of the city of Palermo. Along the way the landscape is idyllic. The sun still is not high and the shadow of the mountains creates a special atmosphere, mingling with the blue of the sea. I enjoy these few kilometers quietly, breathing in deeply the fresh air of early morning. I head towards the sea in the direction of Cinisi. In a side street to meet a large flock of goats that literally forces me to stop, take the opportunity for some photos. The goal is the Natural Reserve of Capo Rama http://www.wwfcaporama.it/. From the village of Cala Rossa, arriving at the gate of the Reserve. The landscape that presents itself is to be left breathless. I parked the bike route to the Reserve. Skip to the eye the dwarf palm typical of these sites, once used by local people for the construction of brooms through the intertwining of its leaves and this is commonly referred to as "scupazzu. The cliffs of rock overhanging the sea, make the landscape even more impressive. The path is well signposted from the WWF which manages the reserve, I come from the promontory of Capo Rama where there is a watch tower of the fifteenth century., One of the oldest in the area, once used to prevent attacks by pirates of the time. The landscape that can be enjoyed from the tower is magnificent. Perhaps the accomplice beautiful day of sunshine, blue skies, the silence, the wind blowing, I get carried away by imagination, how much time off, at this place, there were men on alert at least glimpse of a ship horizon. I observe with curiosity, an innocuous vessel made its maneuvers fishing. Not far from the tower, a house crazy German World War II. From inside, the cracks that once housed deadly weapons, it almost seems to observe three small paintings, with a common theme, the sea. I leave reluctantly this place of peace and tranquility to return home. On the road I realize that it is still early and I still have an hour available, so I jumped in the town of Carini http://www.comune.carini.pa.it/castello.asp to visit its beautiful castle 's XI sec. related to the famous legend about the Baroness of Carini, of which I have already spoken on this site in 2006 . The light is wonderful and makes it even more magical atmosphere of this place. Now the time is expired and it is time to return home. The next
