Here's another version of the BMW R1200GS lightguard. I made this from 6 mm acrylic, just because that's what I happened to have at hand. I think 2 - 3 mm is good enough for the purpose. I made a template out of cardboard, then copied it on the acrylic and cut it with a jigsaw.
The fasteners are available here (in Finland) for fastening water pipes on the wall and are just perfect for this purpose. I have used the same idea for fastening a mapholder on the handlebar. It is tight enough to do without any additional fastening, it does not move back or front even during high speed driving. The advantage with this guard is that it is easy to install and remove.
