R1200GS Seat Lock Trick

Here is a simple modification to solve the problem of a hard-to-unlock driver's seat. If you load additional tools and tire repair kit under the seat, it can push the seat upward and make it very difficult to unlock. Difficult enough that you can break the ignition key trying to open it.

My trick requires just 2 feet (600 mm) of multi-strand wire, that has loops at both ends. Simply put each loop over the lock latch as shown in the photo above. To unlock the seat, you need only to pull the wire.
