Marsee Bavarian 44L Tailbag

I am a big fan of the Marsee Bavarian 44 liter tail bag, which I used also on my old R1100GS. The photo above, taken just north of the Columbia river, looking towards Mt. Hood, OR, shows the Bavarian bag mounted on my GS before I repainted my bike green.

Note: [Sep-2006] — I've been told that Marsee has discontinued this bag...

The Bavarian bag will fit, unmodified, on the R1200GS. Though it will fit much better if you make the modification shown in the photo above. I cut the mounting strap off the flap under the rear of the bag. Then I sewed the flap under the rear of the bag along the edges with some heavy carpet thread. It took about 10-15 minutes.

The result is the pouch created by sewing the flap in place slips neatly over the projection at the rear of the R1200GS' luggage rack. The front of the bag attaches with the supplied straps (I ran mine under the passenger seat).

The bag is so useful that I don't even bother with a tankbag anymore. Which also means than refuelling is quite easy now as I don't have to remove a tankbag.

Highly recommended...
