FastWay R1200GS Footpegs

Home

Do you stand up sometimes when riding your R1200GS? If not, then you should learn to do so for the following reasons:

I often stand up when riding through small towns in the western USA where I live. The stock R12GS footpegs are so narrow that they dig into your arches after a short while. I hate that. So I looked for some aftermarket footpegs with a larger "foot print".

What I chose was these dirtbike-style footpegs from Fastway Performance, Inc. The ones I got (Evolution II model "F3") were configured for the R11xxGS series BMWs, but they fit just fine. The F3's come with two sets of small setscrews to form the gripping surface. If I could do it over again, I'd buy the slightly less expensive ($100 vs: $110) F4 versions with pressed in teeth instead of setscrews.

I got my set from Ricky Kuhn at MotoMacondo, but you can find them from lots of places online (sometimes at a discount) and from your local motorcycle accessory dealer.

These footpegs grip your boots securely, yet don't seem to damage the soles of your boots. They give you a huge increase in confidence and comfort when riding standing up. They are large enough that your foot is well supported, and their non-slip surface makes you feel rooted to the bike. They are way better looking than the cheaply-made stock footpegs, and look like they are OEM parts.

The come with a stainless steel insert which can be flipped one way or the other depending on if you want the footpegs higher or lower. The high configuration, where I have mine set, results in an effective lowering of the footpeg-to-boot interface of about 3/4". The lower setting would make them over 1" lower. I have yet to drag these pegs, even on trackdays.

Highly recommended...
