"Standard" R1200GS
The basic R1200GS was introduced in '04 as a 2005 model, with the first production
units being built in January of 2004. The initial production runs (at least for the
US market) all had ABS, plus a variation of options including one or more of:
hand guards, heated grips, saddlebag mounts, and an anti-theft system.
Initially, there was no Adventure variant.

R1200GS Adventure
The Adventure variant is a standard R1200GS with a larger gastank (34 liters vs 20
liters), a larger alternator (720W vs: 600W), a different seat, cross-spoke wire
wheels, and a handful of other accessories which are options on the standard model
(such as heated grips). It is somewhat bigger, both in appearance and in weight (564
lbs vs: 495 lbs). It also has different saddlebags (aluminum vs: plastic on the
std.).

HP2 Enduro
The HP2 is billed as a "monster dirt bike". Though it shares the engine,
transmission and
Paralever final drive with the standard R1200GS and Adventure variant, it is
really quite a different bike. It has conventional forks, an air-shock on the
rear, no provision for windscreen, luggage or passengers.
It is really a big, expensive, powerful dirt bike!
Note: the specs below represent the differences from the standard R1200GS.
