Wilbers R1200GS Shocks

Home

This page just documents what the Wilbers shocks for the R1200GS look like. [Wilbers is a German company that builds fully rebuildable custom motorcycle shocks with a 5-year warranty]. I ordered a part number #630 for the front, with a blue spring. For the rear, I ordered part number #642, also with a blue spring, and 1/2" shorter than stock. I also ordered p/n #629 (infinite variable adjustable ride height for the rear shock), and p/n #625 (hydraulic preload adjuster for the rear shock).

I bought these from MotoFanatic, a small performance tuning business in Northern Illinois. They have great prices on Wilbers.

In the Spring of 2007, Wilbers abruptly and unceremoneously notified the sole US Importer that they were no longer accepting orders from them. I don't know what the current status is regarding purchasing Wilbers in the USA...

The boxes they came in. Kinda lame to show this, but I was *so* excited when they showed up!

The shocks were sealed in plastic bags, which I removed for this photo. Incidently, the dealer quoted 3 weeks to get them custom made in Germany and shipped to my door. They arrived exactly 3 weeks from the time I ordered them.

Details of the high and low speed compression damping on the rear shock. The photo also shows the ride height adjustment just below the upper eyelet.

Lower mount of the front shock. There's only rebound damping and preload adjustment on the front.

Top of the front shock. These are really well made and make the stock shocks look pretty mundane...

If you're interested in a blow-by-blow of how I installed these shocks, it's here too...
