Intro from Sunshine Coast Aus

Hello from the Sunny Coast.
I've just made room in my bike shed to fit my new ride by getting rid of a 1988 K100 RS... a project that requires space and time and I have neither... not to mention talent and that would have been limited.

I've found a good 2013 water cooled 1200 GS but a conversation with a bmw service manager where he suggested the air cooled model before the water cooled was the one to buy if you are on a budget... due to early model teething issues with the water cooled model. eg. clunky gearbox and cooling issues.

i would like to hear from the early water cooled owners if they have clunky gear boxes and cooling issues that have spoilt their ride or is it something that you get used to or have you engineered a fix.

Cheers

hey mate

FYI re air cooled models - my 2010GS (camhead) oil and air cooled - are not immune to overheating. It does not like slow (Sydney) traffic in the warmer months. Have sat on the side of Pennant Hills Rd waiting for it to calm its farm more than once.
v embarrassing and infuriating
cheers

Thanks for the heads up Greg. My K100 RS didn't like gridlock in the summer either.
