Installed my sw-motech crash bars on my 18 r1200gs

Took several trips to harbor freight tools to get the right stuff but was finally able to install the crash bars tonight. All in all, pretty straightforward process. Just a little tight in places to get a wrench in but if you take your time, should be alright.

mind if I ask what happened and what the result was? Did you just have to change out the one side of the crash bar? Did it nick the valve cover? hope you're okay.

Wet road, right hand turn at about 30mph and hit a strip of oil down the middle of the road. Never been down so fast and no warning, just broke loose and did a couple of donuts and slid off right side of road into the gravel berm. Bike was fine except for a broken mirror, and bent handle bars, which were easy to straighten. I believe the Brooks panniers helped also by keeping the bile flat so it slid on the crash bar and boxes.

It looks like the cylinder head is still vulnerable with those crash guards. I think the SS Cylinder head covers would be a good idea with those engine bars. I know from an incident I had the other day that they a good investment
