Question Air cleaner insert vs. air filter element

Hello GS'ers,
My 12,000 mile tuneup is approaching and I am looking into what needs to be done. I am a little confused by the items listed in the owner's manual maintenance schedule (Pic attached)... Item #7 says "Replace air cleaner insert" and item #8 says "Check or replace the air filter element." Aren't these the same? I've only had my 1250 apart once for the 6,000 mile and only came across one air filter/cleaner. Thanks in advance for the help!

I would treat them as one in the same.

I'm doing mine this weekend, I'll take a look but don't remember an "air cleaner".

I chcked with Jim VonBaden who writes and videos on working on water cooled R1200's and 1250's here is what he replied.

"No, it is some kind of typo. 6 is to replace the filter, 7 is to check it."

no difference in "air cleaner" vs "air filter"

right only one. The screws that hold the cover go on forever, btw. The first time I did mine, when putting it back I was putting it backwards---didn't want to go obviously.
I have since put a piece of tape on it showing the front. I'm easily confused

You can find those filters on amazon or beemer boneyard, prob a lot cheaper than the dealer
