Maintenance light came on at 2000ish miles

Anybody know what the mileage interval is on a 2016 r1200gs? Got mine in June with 800 miles on it and now it has 2400. I believe the maintenance light came on right around 2k. Does the light come on for any other reason than the mileage interval? All I can find is every 6k after the initial 600 mile service. Not sure why it would come on at 2k. Thanks

Other then someone setting it to come on at 2k, it shouldn't come on.

Describe what you mean by maintenance light. On our 2017s a vertical bar comes on in the trip data field when a scheduled service is due. If you are seeing an amber triangle it should mean a fault of some sort was detected.

Most likely means it has been 1 year since last service was done. Should have discussed with previous owner (or dealer) when buying the bike. Normal service is 6K miles or 12 months.

When I reset mine with GS-911 it asks for mileage and date. So whichever comes first will trip it.

Yeah it is the vertical bar service light, I didn’t know it was mileage OR a year which ever comes first. That would explain it! It has been over a year since the last service.
