California scientific touring windscreen

Hi all

Ok, I just purchased a large California scientific touring windscreen for my 2015 r1200gs.

Firstly, unlike what is said, it won't install as described in their installation section. Apparently they did not actually install on a 2015. But the solution is simple, you need to use the grommets from the original screen as a spacer. Once I figured that out, simple to install.

So, the wind buffeting has changed noticibly for the better. There seems to be no "issues" at higher speeds...ok, at least 90mph!

So functionally, it works.

OK, so why did I remove it and installed the original? The curve of the screen makes the screen work like a lens! Think of a pair of reading glasses acting like a windscreen. Everything was slightly enlarged. It is enough to keep distracting my eye. I'm saying something like a 1.2x magnification! The visual transition from off screen to on screen is not smooth etc.

So yes it does work. But optically not for me.

Did you contact CalSci? How about an update on what happened?

They tool the screen back with no issues. I went ahead and purchased a Lamar lip with perfect results. I've used that screen on my other bike...
