Update: Swung by Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD. According to their service manager, they've encountered this before and attribute it to a flaw in the lock that requires them to file down one of the pins. Still a bit hard to remove the key, but I'm not as afraid of breaking the key off. The part that really chaps my drawers is that this wasn't covered as a warranty item...new bike, new cases, new locks, but my problem and cost to fix! Bob's helped ease my pain...$28 bill.
