Anyone Else Disappointed With Nav 6?

I'd been using a Garmin Zumo 396 for the past two years on my V-Strom. I traded for a GS last month and was offered $500 in store credit. I was intrigued by an integrated GPS so I bit on the Nav 6.

The screen is big and bright and excellent in direct sun. Functionally though, the only advantage I can see is that it integrates with the bike. Basically I get to see things like fuel range and temperatures which I can easily see on my dash. Feature-wise it's way behind the Zumo. No wifi. Route and trip building, altering routes and adding way points are way more precise on the Zumo. For the money they charge for these things I expected a superior product.

Of course the dealer says no returns on these things so I guess I'm stuck with it. I was just wondering if I am alone and everyone else thinks it's the best thing out there?

Thanks

JA

Why are you stuck with it? Put it in the flea market and get at least some of your money back on an item that gives you no joy. Then you can put whatever unit you like on the bike.

Stuck with it as in not being able to return it to the dealership. And thanks, I had no idea I could sell it then put whatever unit I like on the bike.

I think the ability to integrate the bikeís info is quite important and makes it a superior product. I can see no benefit in turning my motorcycle into a a WiFi carnival. But this is a country where we get to make choices. Sell it and get what tickles your fancy.

Wifi carnival? The wifi feature on the Zumo allows it to do updates over your personal wifi network. That's all. It's a nice feature.

The integration with the bike to zoom in/out with the wheel is easily worth $500 all by itself. Take the bike on a long trip following a GPS track and you'll be singing it's value like the rest of us.

Nav VI allows device updates hard wired via USB cord and that's fine for me. Garmin Express is the online utility. Having the bike's metabolism displayed and swapping between that and a map with the ability to zoom, all without punching buttons (wonder wheel) does make for a good tool.

That said, Garmin can be a bit hinky over minor issues and such but it is still the best integrated device for a BMW.

Like Pterodactyl said, integration with motorcycle is a great feature. I had a flat tire this morning and, after plugging it, it was nice to monitor pressure easily through the Nav VI as I rode. My wife's GPS does the WiFi updating and that's nice. Personally, though, I certainly wouldn't trade that feature for bike integration.

It's not just connecting to your bike that is different (and useful in my opinion). You don't need Wi-Fi on the GPS when you can connect to your phone and get connectivity. If you download and install the Garmin mobile connect app you can get live updated weather on your route, live traffic, red light cameras, etc...

It is one of the best motorcycle GPS systems I've ever seen.
