Funny

Kidding aside, I got the mid life crisis itch and decided to visit my local BMW (auto) dealer and almost signed on the dotted line for an M3. Held off for a day and came home to discuss with the wife. When she looked at the price she said "go buy the GS and keep your old car". That friends is love or a well orchestrated plan

Bmw

I buy used BMW with about 50K miles at a big discount from new. But you need to be somewhat of a mechanic or it'll eat your wallet on maintenance items. I do my own brakes and minor repairs. New battery at the dealer $500 or register my own for $100 (new cars require battery registration)! 6 new coils $128.00 for OEM Bosch and I can't even guess what a dealer charges. 2008 528i in pristine condition from original owner with all repair records. New $60K 70K miles $10K.

I would have liked to get a 535, but too many issues with early models.

I am a sucker for BMW. I believe in these people, but criticize them whenever I think I see the chance for improvement. In our narrow family, we have three of them right now (all registered on me): X5, 530XD, 320 Wife drives Lexus GS 450H (bad girl).
Love BMW mass distribution and stability. Although Lexus was more advanced car design than BMW, say 10 years ago, the feeling is that the Lexus is not that stable and rigid in corners and you can feel all chassis is flexing to some extent when going over bumps in the corner. So I conclude - BMW is the ultimate driving machine as advertised. Had MBs before but gave up on boring taxi cars. So unlike my friend Slow, I can be regarded as a cager-biker hybrid.
