EWS replacement question

My new-to-me '07-ADV is on the EWS recall list, but the dealer can't get to it before my previously scheduled trip. I have an extra to carry with me. If I have a problem, is it changed by removing the guard in front of the ignition with the two torx screws? ...just in case. Thanks

yes and no

You can do a temporary fix to get you started by removing the 2 torx screws and plugging in your spare ring. A permanent replacement involves drilling out 2 mounting screws.
