Illuminated switches

I love the GSA, but can someone tell me why BMW won't backlight the switches? I ride a fair amount during periods of limited visibility and just though how nice it would be as maybe something that could be turned on/off as needed. Coming from a K16 with heated seats, can someone also tell me why BMW does not offer this as an option? Most GS/GSA never see a speck of dirt and used mostly for long distance touring, so it would seem this would be either standard or an option. Because I ride in colder climates well into the Winter, I like keeping the jewels at room temperature. I did have my RDL equipped, but still found it somewhat odd that BMW did not have this as an option.

I don't think it should be an option - it should be standard.

Nice to have, but is it needed?

I ride with Hippo Hands in the cold weather, once you become familiar with the bike your muscle memory kicks in for pressing the right button or switch.

This used to make me angrier as well . After enough time I did gain the muscle memory to use the buttons blind. Maybe a glow in the dark paint is in order?

Maybe its that people in warmer areas (sometimes NC is and sometimes its not) don't need that option. I, like a lot of others, wear heater gear in cold weather. You can, optionally, add a heated seat for less than $700. How much would BMW charge and going this way I have 2 seats that are easily swapped out.

As for switches, I've never felt the need for glow-in-the-dark, but maybe it would be nice.

I know this is an old thread...Be glad you dont have lit switches on your GSA I have them on my 06 wing and have had to replace a few over the years. Getting the switch clusters apart can be an incredibly fiddly job. The tiny wires and bulbs have to be run exactly so it all goes back together as factory. And the switch clusters would be bigger too boot! So dont wish too hard BMW may hear you...ha!
