reluctant starting

2015 GS is taking several 2-3 seconds of cranking before starting. 60,000km, recent spark plugs, new OEM air filter, valve lash with specs. What am I missing ?

Patience? j/k

Is it a hard healthy crank or labored?

Are you waiting until the fuel pump priming cycle is completed before you hit the "go" button?

I bet your battery might need replacing.

On my 2016 it takes two tries to start sometimes. I check the battery and it still in good shape. I just had a 12,000 mile service done and it still starts this way every once in a while.

battery is good

No issues with the cranking, I always wait several seconds for the fuel pump before hitting the go button. does not seem to make any difference how long I wait.

no biggie

2-3 seconds is nothing, really

My 2015 GS has 83k miles. How it starts has not changed in all those miles.

If engine hot, starts immediately regardless of side/center stand orientation.

If engine cold AND on the CENTER stand, starts immediately. I've tested this after 4 weeks of no use (vacation), fires right up.

If engine cold AND on the SIDE stand, sometimes it does take 2 tries, about 2 seconds per. Sometimes it starts immediately.

I generally wait about 5 seconds after power on to allow everything to "kick in", then crank.

So I'm guessing this is normal...
