It's a handy stowage for a few packets of foam ear plugs.

I keep spare AA, AAA, CR2032 batteries in there, along with spare fuses.

I keep my garage door remote, ear plugs and a slim pocket knife in mine.

Spare foam earplugs and a few mints. I discovered, after putting my insurance card in there, that it's not watertight...

Foam earplugs, hex wrench to adjust aftermarket wind deflector, and credit card for gas (only for long trips and removed when leaving bike).

I don't have this compartment on my GS but on all my bikes I either laminate my insurance and registration with a cheap home laminator or put these paper documents in a zip loc bag and stow them on the bike. Either works fine.

It's my candy bowl. Keep a few hard candies in it to enjoy on rides.

I travel with a tank bag so I don't use that compartment at all. My "quick & smalls" live in the bag.

It's really not deep enough to be really useful. Right now I keep my registration papers only. Didn't know it's not waterproof!
