I've fallen down the rabbit hole...

Hi all,

I've fallen head first into madness!

Please pull me out.

So, on my 2015 gs, on the instrument cluster, I like to see the outside temperature (extemp), and miles per gallon, top and bottom respectively.

Now, I would like to see other screens like "miles you can drive" etc.

Soooooooo, I had a brilliant idea. I found a standalone, self contained digital temperature gauge. It has 2 wires, one is a ~24inch waterproof temperature sensor, and the other a power USB cable. I plug it into my USB power adapter on bike, mount on bike, put THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR SOMEWHERE.

The madness is the temperature sensor location.

So, I've been trying to find the best location, so if possible match the bikes temp. Btw, where does the temperature sensor for extemp reside? Maybe I should mount there?

I've been experimenting all week.

I'm thinking near the air filter?

It's been interesting seeing how the temperature changes based on the sensor location.

Thoughts where?

Oh, the complete temperature display setup, $12usd. That's right, $12 freaking bucks.

I used hot glue and gaffers tape to mount on bars.

It's actually pretty awesome.

$12.

I'd mount the sensor in front of the motor some place where it will get clean air and still be shaded. Maybe between the front forks somewhere.

You can also just run your information on your navigation screen if you have one, you can choose whatever menu you want. On my bike I run speed, engine temperature, tire pressure f&r. Many different options.

Under the beak. My GT had it's factory sensor in front of the radiator between the forks.

Where's the oem sensor on your bike? Near or at same location?
