Hill Assist dumb question

Hi, I know this is a dumb question but.. I was at a traffic light and I activated the hill assist, shifted into neutral and put both feet down, then went into my tank bag knowing the bike wouldn't roll.. Then I thought, is my brake light on? So my dumb question is, does hill assist also activate the brake light? I guess I could back up against a wall or something and test it. I know hill assist isn't suppose to work with the side stand down so I can't walk behind and check. I did google it and I read the owners manual, nobody mentioned it.. Just wondering. Thank you.

Be aware that despite appearances, this is NOT an electronic handbrake.

Hill Start Assist doesn't engage permanently and may disengage under many circumstances (and may not re-engage immediately after disengaging, depending on the mode you have it set to).

That said, damn if it isn't useful at traffic lights

Sometimes when I know I'm going to be sitting a while (e.g. when a flagger is directing traffic) I'll shut the engine off so the fan doesn't come on while waiting, getting zero mpg. Sometimes I'll do it by putting the sidestand down (long waits) or just use the kill switch (a few minutes). Either way will disengage HSA! So if you've put it in neutral and you're on any kind of incline, you'll roll.
