Having issues with the pannier case locks...ones for locking the cases to the mounting frame. Issue is that after I mount the cases and close the latches, there is so much tension on the latches/locks that I have great difficulty getting the key out...so much that I'm worried about breaking the key off. Caveat...cases and locks are new.

Has anyone else experienced this and/ore have a recommended solution.

Thx...Jim

Mine are a little tight and I also worried about breaking the key off the fob. I only took right side off once to install a Touratech tool box. Don't plan on taking them off in the near future.

I had issues with the locks on my '07 and now on the '15. The dealer said he would have someone take a look at the locks next time I roll in. For now it's now a major issue, just a PITA.

This is my first post, but I just got my 2015 GSA and had the same thing going on. I took it back to my dealer because I thought the key wasn't cut properly. Turns out the mounting frame can be made incorrectly and cause the issue. The service writer showed my the BMW bulletin about the issue and ordered me a new frame.

Hope this helps!

Update: Swung by Bob's BMW in Jessup, MD. According to their service manager, they've encountered this before and attribute it to a flaw in the lock that requires them to file down one of the pins. Still a bit hard to remove the key, but I'm not as afraid of breaking the key off. The part that really chaps my drawers is that this wasn't covered as a warranty item...new bike, new cases, new locks, but my problem and cost to fix! Bob's helped ease my pain...$28 bill.

Posted my update above before I saw your post...WTF?!? Calling my dealer today.

Update: Talked to Bob's and the Service Adviser indicated that they knew about the service bulletin...WTF! (again). New frame is on order, but plan on having a chat with the Service Manager when I go to have the frame mounted. Conversation will go something like..."So you told me this was a lock problem, not covered by warranty and felt the need to charge me for a "Macgyver" fix; but didn't feel the need to tell me about the service bulletin and the potential mounting frame issue...kindly explain please." Total BS in my mind.

Not to fuel the fire, but I had the bracket replaced last weekend and it now works perfectly.

Yes, I just bought a 2016 GSA with the factory boxes and same thing. Key and locks are not smooth as you would expect from BMW. I have not had the 600 mile service yet but plan on presenting this problem when I bring it in. I will keep you posted. Steve Johnson 2016 GSA

When I brought my '15 model back for the 600 mile, the mechanic asked me if I had any difficulties with the bags and I replied No.
He then told me of the TB (technical bulletin) regarding the racks n bags.

Can't say enough good "praise" for the mechanics and staff at my Dealer here in Chicago.
BMW Motorcycles of Countryside Illinois.
Top notch sales and service!

I'm pretty sure Chris will be interested in your issue and take care of you. If this isn't true, Bob will be very interested!
