I'm in search of my first GSA and have been eyeing a 2007 with just under 70K. I understand that these engines can have a good life but the higher mileage makes me a bit nervous. He is asking $8,500, and I think can get it for around $8K. Feels a bit high to me, so I'm reluctant. The first owner did a S. America trip, so it's been well loved.

I assume that the cylinders would likely need some work around 100K. Other repair issues that I should be aware of?

Other things I should be aware of when shopping for my first GSA?

Unlikely that the cylinders needs work, clutch on the other hand might be getting ready to replace.

There are a number of things that might need some attention but first of all 8500$ seems way to much for a GSA that's done 70k miles, with the reservation that I'm not familiar with the local market. I'd offer something like 6k, maybe 7 if it has a full service record. If seller doesn't accept, wait for another bike to turn up.
