Hello im new to forum and have a major problem with a non running bike I bought. the bike spins over but won't start (ews) displayed , I have replaced the battery and the antenna with new parts , bought a obdlink mx and motoscan ultimate app to read the codes , buzzed out the antenna 4 wires back to the ecu and seems fine? I wonder if someone has an old bmsk (ecu) that I could try and see if the app read the immobiliser section? if it does then the fault maybe in the old ecu , it also checks out the wiring? im stuck with this problem........ANY HELP PLEASE
do you know a good mechanic/tech in the area that can help , thank you

Have you checked the wiring at the headstock for breaks and or chaffing?

looks ok checked 4 wires from the antenna to ecu all buzz out ok?

EWS fault is generaly associated with a faulty ring antenna, it's not to difficult to replace and does not cost too much. That would be the first part to replace

Has the battery been tested and verified good?

EWS code is normally one of three things

Antenna ring, tits up
Battery low or tits up
Wiring at headstock chaffed or broken

If the battery and wiring are good possibly try to source a known good antenna ring from a running bike and swap them out.

When you say that the wires 'buzz out Ok' I guess that means that you checked them with a multimeter on the diode test mode (buzzing when wire are continuous) ?

OP stated he replaced the battery and antenna ring. That does not mean the replacement antenna rings is kaput from th estart.

thanks for reply , I have tested the antenna wires (4 ) on the multimeter and are ok , new antenna ring , and battery is good

So the 2005 ring antennae is around the key slot. The key does not have a battery, it is a rfi chip. Have you tried a second key? Have you read the actual code to see what it is storing?

You can actually plug a new antenna in without replacing it and get them to recognize the key. I did it on an RT I had.

Does it have an alarm system on it separate from the EWS?

Really need to see what code is stored.

Really need to know what codes are stored. Someone near you might have a GS911 that would be willing to let you scan with. Not sure where you are located.

hello, I had a lot of fault code on this bike I bought as a non runner with ews displayed , most of the codes were from a long time ago when the abs unit was removed and under voltage issues before the new battery was fitted, there didn't seem to be any codes relating to the ews problem? another new antenna has been ordered so to eliminate a faulty new item, thank you

non of the above , bought paid for all legitimate , last owner had just had enough of it , he just paid
£500 for a service and repairs and the ews fault was the last straw , cheers
