I got two letters yesterday. One for my GSA and one for a bike I don't own.

Approaching my 60K service and I do have to have the drain installed in final drive housing at this next service.
Does that mean they will change the final drive fluid?
Reason I ask is I usually change all the fluids and filters myself before it goes in.

Yes, sir, I did. They told me that was automatic for bikes with over 37,000 miles.

Just got the same news that I would get a new drive shaft due to being over the 37k miles as I scheduled my 2017 GSA for its 60K.

How knackered are the universal joints?

If by knackered, you mean abused, not at all. A few paint scrapes. The tech said those were probably from the removal.

He means the bearings, not the paint. The shaft removed from my bike looked the same as yours but the universal joints were eff'd. As I said earlier, visual inspection is meaningless. Gently pivot the u-joint. It should offer smooth operation. If you feel an stuttering in the movement the bearings are toast.

No bearings seemed fine.
