It's locked in! We fly to the US from Australia on Friday. Our bikes are in Long Beach awaiting our arrival and the start of the adventure.:wink2:
Some of you may have seen the previous post or our Facebook page - Endless Roads.

Our first full day on two wheels is Sunday 21st May and it will take us from Long Beach to Paso Robles CA. Part of the ride is from the iconic Rock Store on Mulholland Highway, through Ojai, along the Maricopa Highway and Lockwood Valley Road, then on to a lunch stop at Tina's diner in Maricopa. Google Map Link

If anyone would like to join us for this section of the ride or possibly just catch up for coffee or breakfast at the Rock Store, we would love to say g'day in person.
We aim to be at the Rock Store at around 9 am (depending on LA traffic) and depart around 9:30 or 10. This section of the ride is about 180 miles and should see us at Tina's Diner at around 2pm.

Just curious... what was the cost and details of shipping bikes here?
The cost for shipping bikes depends on your preferred mode of transport. When we did this the first time in 2014, we used sea freight each way and the cost was around $3,500 for each bike in total. The bikes spend 3 weeks in containers each way using this method. On our last trip in 2016 we decided to use air freight to get the bikes to the US as the rules around "dangerous goods" had changed making it less expensive out of Australia. It's also a 48 hour door to door service. We still used sea freight for the return as it is significantly less expensive to sea freight back from the US.
With air over and sea return, it will cost just under $4,000 for each bike.

Not an inexpensive exercise, but we love to ride our bikes, and for 35 days it is cost competitive with hire options.

Are you going to be near Santa Cruz? Love to hook up with you!

Kam
Kam - Not passing directly through Santa Cruz this time, although we did on our last trip and it's a great town.
Monday will see us heading north from Paso Robles (inland route) via Parkfield, Hollister and the outskirts of San Jose before turning east for the ride up Mt Hamilton and on to Merced.
We are looking to stop for a coffee break in the morning at Paicines and then a lunch stop at The Junction on Del Puerto Canyon Road.
