…so have I just never noticed or do the crash bars not align looking down…like standing in the pedal on the center stand…

2016 bike…new to me

Instead of looking at the crash bars, look at the cylinder heads. One is further forward than the other. Since the cylinders don't align, neither do the crash bars.

Now you can obsess about your cylinders not aligning! ;)

Actually from (lets pick a fixed point) the rear axle to the face of the crash bars will measure the same distance. The sidepieces that are connected to the engine are offset. On Hexheads the left cylinder is close to the crash bar whereas the rigth side has a bigger gap between the cylinder and crash bar.
