Last July, I purchased my dream motorcycle, 2013 R1200GS with 11,000 miles on it. The original owner was an engineer and had a detailed Excel file for all the maintenance completed on the bike. I have owned a Kawasaki 350, Suzuki GS850G, and a Honda 1200 American Classic before this BMW. I enjoy doing my own maintenance, but I am finding it difficult to locate a solid "do-it-yourself" manual for the BMW. I use YouTube as best as I can, but often I find having a manual with torque specs, etc., as a big plus. Do any of you have any recommendations? Also, would you recommend purchasing a HEX 911 diagnostic unit and is it worth it for the self taught do-it-yourself person? Thanks in advance!

Welcome.

JVB Productions appears to have a good self-maintenance videos.

JVB Productions

I don't own it but samples appear to be decent for general maintenance.

I bought a 2006 R1200GS last summer and also picked up a GS911 WIFI because I'm a DIY sort when t comes to maintenance. To me its worth it to be able to see and clear codes. Set service reminders and turn off service lights. If it saves one trip to the dealers you money ahead.

Also keep and eye out on places like ADV Rider for used units with a couple VINS left to save a few Dong.
