I recently had the fork seal leaking. The BMW dealer quoted me $500 and change.
Read up on options, including taking the fork out from the top of the fork mount and
cleaning.

Ended up cleaning out the fork seal using a few tools that cost a combined $20 at most.

Here are some pictures of the tools and the process. Let me know if I missed anything.

Yep. And the entire seal is only about $50. Pull that top, Scotchbrite the tube, drop a new seal, $500 in your pocket.

But for real, that's an insane quote. I had one replaced a few months ago and it was only like $165.
