First generation Badlands over here. Almost worn every day for the last 11-12 years. Some of this may be irrelevant.... Ymmv.
Downsides....
Gortex stopped being effective about 5 years ago. Velcro is shot in most places, replaced and repaired as needed, used snaps in some places. Water bladder pouch inside the jacket was a dumb idea, should've been on the outside like the Rally version. Elastic pull cords gave out, I replaced them too. Zipper pulls came off, repaired. Monkey paws I liked but the spandex material gave out after 2 years, now they just act like a some extra stuffing to seal the cuffs. Front top zipper stop wore out, just have to manually line up the zipper halves before zipping jacket up.
Upsides...
Klim replaced the D30 armour free of charge when they literally cracked in half. The fabric and build of the jack is tough as all hell. I've come of my bikes more times than I can remember and the jack hasn't blown a seam and I haven't yet worn through the material. Like the kidney belt setup, keeps the jacket stable.
Now having wrote all that... this jacket is wayyyyyyyyy overpriced. I probably won't buy another one unless I can get a seriously good deal on it but I have a better chance of riding my GS on the Moon so I'll see you there...
What I'm looking at now, as my jacket is getting worn out, is the MSR Xplorer. Price & value hit the mark... check it out, MSR Xplorer ADV Jacket | Riding Gear | Rocky Mountain ATV/MC
Also looking at the RST Adventure-X & BMW Enduroguard - another good value for the price.

i have the latitude and have put about 26,000 miles on it. I've ridden all over the southwest, westcoast and the PNW. I think it has been good. honestly didn't realize the CE1 instead of CE2... i was still new to all of this when i bought it. only complaints is that i think it gets warm at about 70F. i had to take it off during the heat dome in WA a couple of summers ago just cause it was too hot. if you can have multiple suits, i think it might be an OK buy depending on price.

I had the one piece Aerostich Roadcrafter but I didn't like having to take it off at lunch stops. My brother has one and loves it for commuting. Takes it off and he's in his work clothes.
I sold mine and bought the Aerostich Darien Jacket and pants. For a retired person going out for a week to a month at a time it's the perfect gear.

I still have my KLIM Overland that has served me from a 2017 trip from North Dakota to Prudhoe Bay Alaska and down thru Washington State and back; from The Smokey Mountains to the the Pacific Shores and never been wet, too hot or too cold. The armor may crack in cold temps, and my fingers have been numb, my wife and I also endured 4 straight days of rain in our gear and never got wet. I know when this set becomes worn out I'll have a hard time not looking to KLIM for a replacement. On that note that S#!t is getting EXPENSIVE! and I might be getting old but saving a buck still has its merit especially as one acquires --- things in there life's like a wife, a home and "Toys"... just saying I don't envy you having to put out before you see the results. I only know this, read and review everything , consider "Used" and don't put yourself in debt... unless you ride year around and around the world, you can afford to spend what you have.

Another Klim Overland fan here. Bought the first one new as I found the Badlands too heavy, I then lost weigh and found a used one in the right size. I'm also dreading wearing it out or breaking it as I don't know what I'd replace it with, the new ones are far too expensive and I'm not keen on the new colours.

I guess I'd better look after this one!

This is great advice. As a primarily day trip rider I have 3 jackets, an Oxford Toledo Air bought new for above 75F, a Fieldsheer textile bought used for 55-75F and a Fieldsheer textile with insulated liner bought used for 40-55F. I have 3 pants as well of similar approach.

All in I have maybe $400 invested in these jackets/pants and will last me quite a while. I know I’d like a Klim suit but can’t justify spending that kind of money until I’m not happy in what I have now. That said…I avoid riding in rain.

Good approach but I still think you get the quality you pay for?

For those items you mentioned what are the CE ratings for the armor? 1 or 2? Does it have back armor, shoulder armor, elbow armor, chest armor? For pants knee and hip armor? My full Klim set has all of that armor at CE level 2. Also the high impact areas are much heavier material. I have seen Klim gear after crashes and it holds up. Lessor, cheaper gear does not survive as well. Then there is also warranty, for Klim if you are in a crash they replace any damaged gear if it is less than 5 years old. No questions asked, provide a police report and send it back to them and they send you the same or better item for free.

So one crash and you will likely wish you had spent the money. People have no issues sending huge money on farkles but balk at buying good riding gear.

All of my stuff has armor in it, I did a gravel slide at 15mph and the Fieldsheer jacket and pants barely had a scratch.

No question you get what you pay for. I just can’t justify the cost for the Klim stuff (I’d likely go MSR Xplorer), and realize I could possibly save more in long run. All mine have done well for past few years, plus I don’t have to wear the same suit every ride.
:)
