GS Windscreen upgrade

I’m looking to reduce the wind noise on my 2020 GS1250 by going to a larger windscreen. Would swapping out my screen to the larger GS Adventure windscreen make a big difference? It looks to be an easy swap, the bolt patterns match.

I tried GSA screen and it didn't do much. Besides wind noise I had horrible buffeting. Wind noise was not of my concern but the buffeting made my GS impossible to ride. So I tried few screens (spent a lot of money) and ended up with the perfect and the only set that works for me: Wunderlich Marathon screen, MRA spoiler and screen reinforcement braces. The buffeting was solved 100% and the wind noise got cut at half.

How tall are you?
If you get a bigger screen I'd also budget $32 for a windscreen brace off of Amazon. Actually, might not be a bad idea to add one to you GS with the stock screen??

I have a late model GSA and the wind management is much better than my 2007 GS with a GSA screen on it, there are several factors at play that add up. The winglets on the GSA and the mirrors are lower profile. Even between my 08 and 20 GSA the wind management is way different. Mostly because of the mirrors.

Here is what I would do.
Go with the middle size.
Works great.

The GSA screen would only provide minimal, if that, additional wind protection over the stock GS screen from my experience. When I traded my 2018 GS for a 2020 GSA I was hoping the GSA screen would provide more protection but it didn't so I put on a Puig screen which was much better. If you want additional wind protection you're going to have to look at aftermarket options
One of the screens I tested was Puig. It did reduce the buffeting and wind noise a lot but the buffeting was still there which made me not wanting to ride the bike (even with Puig spoiler). After that I tried Givi, even worse then Puig. Then I tried Wunderlich Marathon, almost perfect. After that installed MRA spoiler on top of the Wunderlich screen and it got perfect. Love to ride my GS since I did that.
I recently replaced my 2014 GSA wind screen. I knew I would have to cut the lower end to reduce the width so the handguards would not hit when the handlebar twisted sharply if the bike went down on a trail. For this reason, I did my research but bought a less expensive one off ebay. I didn't want to make the first screen I cut to be a $150+ model. The link is below. The screen is 4mm thick, just like the $150+ ones. Cut with a jig saw and a fine metal blade using low speed so as not to heat things up. Finished with a file. I also added the extra screen base PerazziMx14 mentioned earlier. This screen is tall/wide enough that it reduced the helmet buffeting but I was still able to get some air. Very happy.

I have a 2016 GSA and I’m 6’2” in my socks. I added a laminar lip and a brace. It could look better but it did the job for me at a lower cost than replacing the whole windshield. So no. The GSA windshield alone was not enough for me. I put the laminar lip near the high end of the recommended range. I followed the instructions and it seems secure at all speeds.
Some pictures of my GSA plus Laminar Lip. Works for me with a brace at 6’2”

You can add the Puig deflector. The large one works very nice. Puig Clip-On Windscreen Visor | 5% ($6.02) Off! - RevZilla
I went with the standard size AeroFlow screen . I'm 6ft and with it up it's about chin lever yet wind goes over my head and on dirt I lower it so I can see even better. In the rain I also lower it so the wind keeps my face mask clear. Scroll down to see the size compared to stock. R1250GS/GSA & R1200GS/GSA Touring Windshield – AeroFlow, Corp.
