A creind of mine just purchased a GSA and had this question. I thought that the pannier racks came on the GSA and there was no installation cost. Here's the question "The installation cost of the aluminum panniers on the GSA are 104€ for the sides and 69€ for the top case.... I'm looking to get an opinion on the practically of having a "professional installation" before spending an additional 273€."

I installed the GSA stainless case racks on my standard GS 2012...not a difficult job...took me about 2 1/2 hours...could probably do in about an hour the second time around ...it would have been helpful to have a second pair of hands...suggest having a friend to assist....lay everything out around the bike prior to starting and have all fasteners sitting in appropriate spots...attach everything loosely then tighten to appropriate torque...from looking at picture of rack on the new GSAW it looks easier than the last generation.

Neither should take more than an hour. I put the GSA racks on two different GS's and it is dead simple. Install everything loosely then tighten to spec once it is all together.
