Hi All, apologise in advance, as I am a novice and new to the forum. I have a 2007, R1200GS and want to add auxiliary lights onto the front crash bars. So I get that there is no fuse box, so wired them direct to the batt, but I was wondering if I could wire them via an ignition live. Found some suggestions on the internet that say you can use the side light live or the diagnostic green wire under the seat, however these just send the aux light relay into rapped clicking. any advice.
My advice is to use (if you have optional) plug below rider seat. There is 12V after switch on the bike, also is capable to withstand up to 5A current. This is ideal solution for optional relay driver.
Welcome to the forum, Pete. You can use the city light wire or the rear light wire for a trigger. I used the city light wire on my '09 GSA. It's easiest if you remove the headlight assembly to do it.
Thanks guys,am I correct in thinking that both these wires can only be used as triggers to a add-on fuse box like the Fuzeblocks-FZ as they would not allow enough amps to power the lights directly.
Hi Adney999, you are correct, the best option is to use the accessory connector to control a relay (like the one inside the FZ-1) and get the power directly from the battery.
