Dumb newbie question, but accidentally did this for about a 20 mile ride yesterday. Just wondering if it's intended to be ridden this way. The key doesn't seem like it comes out easily

No. Push the slide toggle thing behind the NAV on the left in (towards the right), then the key will come out.

I ride off occasionally with the key dangling in that lock and every time I do I mutter to myself, stop at the first opportunity and put it in my pocket. It's a personal thing that I don't like it dangling there but I don't think there's any harm in it as long as your Nav is locked in to place.

BTW, mine's a little persnickety to get in/out of that lock. Make sure the cradle is properly set and then just jiggle it slightly and it'll come right out.

I wonder about this also at first, figured it didn't really cause an issue so for the most part it never leaves it now...

Won't cause any issues. But, if you lose it, it will cost big $$$ to replace.
