Greetings,
Has anyone or does anyone use any of the knockoff GS911 interfaces available. I am generally not a fan of knockoffs but sometimes the price point makes me me think about it. I used to be all about the cheap alternatives but experience has taught me (over and over) by reinforcing the saying that “you get what you pay for”

Might be junk....might work....not much risk in wasting $30. I took the risk buying a BMW DVD Service Manual from Croatia I think, after they pulled all of them from the dealerships. It was obviously a copy of a real DVD, but works like a charm. Took a while to get though. Let us know how it goes. P.S. I did buy a real GS-911.

Like buying no-name contraception it might work and it might not. What's the worst that can happen? I mean you get a 365 day free warranty. If the faux GS911 eff's up your bike, you'll get your $35 back and then you can put that towards the new $2000 ECU.

I understand the potential downsides. I am asking if anybody has any personal experience with such an animal.

Problem with stolen chineasum tech you don't know what you are getting, there may be 1000 good experiences but you don't know when there will be a bad one. Its $35, pays you money and take the risk. Hopefully you are the 1001st with a good experience.

I have considered getting the china911 but the first thing they tell is to not upgrade the cracked software that comes with it. That means that you will never get the new functionalities of the real one.

Also, I'm with PerazziMx14 on that issue. Because the GS911 can write data to your bike I'd avise against cheap copy (I paid full price for a real GS911 and reduced the cost by charging a small fee for code reading/service indicator/adaptation reset for the members of my local BMW owners club).

If the GS911 was only a reader, I would have given it a chance

A bit late here, but I have a different opinion here. If this is truly a knock-off where a firm/individual copied the GS911, then I would not buy it on principle. The company that makes the GS911 spent a lot of time and effort making the product. This may even have included working with BMW, but I don't know here. Buying a knock-off in my opinion is theft--especially when the original company is still in business and selling their product.

I know this doesn't answer the original poster's question, but I would never go down this road.

I paid $16k for my bike. Personally, I'm not willing to hook up a $35 Chinese knock-off that's potentially damaging and dangerous to my bike. It's simply not worth it to me. Everybody has different risk tolerance levels though.

I paid $2.8k for my bike, (6,000 trouble free miles in a bit over a year). I'm not willing to pay $400 plus to do basic maintenance and troubleshooting, so yeah price value is different for different folks.

I use MotoScan (Ultimate version) with an OBDLink MX+ bluetooth OBD adapter. Does everything. No VIN limits. Not a “GS911 knock-off“ but a competitive option that’s less expensive.

Another UP vote for MotoScan (Ultimate). I have been using this for 3+ years. Works great. Costs much less than GS911 and no limits on number of bikes I can use the app with.

Is MotoScan available on IPhone? I couldn’t find it in the App Store. That Norwegian guy on YouTube (who I LOVE) likes MotoScan, but looks like he is using it on an Android.
The GS-911 was on sale, so I pulled the trigger on it.

Last I knew MotoScan was only android. IPhone users could just pickup a cheap Android phone to make it go.

It’s Android only. I’m an iPhone user but I bought a small inexpensive Android tablet to run MotoScan.

I don't know about the recent versions of GS911 but, when I got mine you had a choice of two versions (Enthusiast, for 10 Vins or Pro, unlimited Vins) It was possible to upgrade online to Pro for $200

I do a lot of GS911 interventions (reset service intervals, code reading and clearing, etc.) and I charge $20 each time... I used that money to pay the unlimited upgrade.
