OK so i was having some starter issues and fog lights were not operating and then my '13 GSA would not start on some occasions. I ended up taking the bike to the dealer first thing at 9am today and had them look at it. After an hour i was escorted back to the maintenance bay and shown 4 inches of burnt up wiring starting from under the ECU leading into the main wiring harness. im not sure what component the wiring was chaffing against but it ended up grounding out and like a fuse burnt up the insulator as it went. I have 7k miles on the bike and now the wiring harness needs to be replaced, the starter and the flywheel needs to be inspected but most likely replaced too. I contacted BMW corporate notifying them of my issue and voicing that i not long felt safe on that particular bike since there literally a electrical fire under my 8.7 gallon fuel tank and being so new having major issues prematurely i lost all confidence in the bike and that i was no longer going to rider that bike and to see what my options were to get on another bike due to this multi system failure. The dealership has been phenomenal and it doesn't even feel like a dealership, more like a club or places just to buy parts but 3-5 days i'll find out what BMW can do to make sure that i feel safe and satisfied with there product. so far so good.
