Recs for easily removable soft bags

Hello,

I’m flying out to pick up my new GS in South Dakota on Sunday and riding it back. Needless to say, I’m fairly pumped.

I’m looking for recommendations for smallish saddlebags. Currently I’ve got some Hepco and Becker C-bow bags which lock to the bike and unlock and come off quickly. I put my work clothes in there and carry the bag into work where I change. I’d like something similar so I don’t have to mess with straps/buckes every time I put it on and off.

I’m going to fly out with these as carry ons and use them on the way home to hold my clothes, and supplies. Just 3 days. Hoping I can find something at Cyclegear.

Thanks for the help,
Adam

Does it have Vario case mounts or the GSA pannier mounts for aluminum boxes? If it has the vario then there is no rack and you would need either a rack to add or a rackless bag system like the MoskoMoto Reckless system.

Also if it is set up for Vario cases then these bags are a direct fit.

Hard panniers and Kathy's Journey pannier bags(y)

I hate soft bags as the buckles and straps are PITA, they are not secure and they smell like a gym locker.

If you want a nice but inexpensive top case there are some nice chineasuim ones on Amazon for $200ish. I bought two of them and they have been great.

Right on, thanks for the replies. It has “saddle bag mounts”, not sure what that means, but it doesn’t have racks mounted. I like the idea of a top case
I'm reading your OP that you are looking for something to get for the ride home from South Dakota. Since you're leaving on Sunday, that's not a lot of time. In this case a good sized duffle/dry bag and a pair of ROK straps would be a good solution for the ride home. These should be easily available. Just strap the bag over the pillion seat and rear rack. Once you get home you can take your time to find a good long-term solution that fits your needs.

If I miss read your OP, then......never mind.

I’m confused.
Sorry if I’m missing something.

Are you looking for the trip home with the new GS or something long term?

How will you attach your Hepco and Becker C-bow bags to the GS?

I’d go with a duffle and/or cheap dry bag and Rok straps as noted above but not sure that works if the C-bows already planned.

Sorry, it’s not you, it’s me. I have C-bows on my current bike, and I like them. Really simple on/off and they lock to the bike. I looked at their site and it doesn’t look like they make any attachments for the GS, which is a bummer. On my Trident, the mounts screw into the passenger peg assembly frame holes.

It turns out the point is moot anyway. I found a similarly spec’d demo bike close to home that I’m picking up Tuesday. No luggage needed immediately, so I can do some research and get some good ones. But man, accessories are pricey for this bike!

thanks again for all the help,
Adam
Accessories are only pricey if you want them to be. Just need to do some research. Going BMW, Mosko, Wunderlich will be bank busters but they aren’t the only options.

I have the Beumont soft cases for the GSA.. $600 for the pair back in 2020 (still half the money for the BMW aluminum cases)

If you decide to go with BMW OEM, get them overseas (Germany specifically)
I purchased a set of the OEM side cases for my Generation 2 S1000XR
Damn near half the cost stateside.. Downside tho, 2 week wait....but worth it in my opinion
