Dear all.
I am the owner of a 1200 GS 2007 that is working like a charm and traveled few places faraway.
I originally connected here in 2009 when I bought this bike but have left for a while.
Now, I have an interesting, but not pleasant behaviour from the bike.
Let me explain the setup and the behaviour.

The bike is equiped with a Navigator VI GPS plugged on the dedicated plug.
Without that device, I would never have noticed below issue.
I also have a set of Led lights with a relay pluged after contact.

I can go on trip for days and have no issue at all.
However, when I plug a device on the accessory plug, below the seat on the left hand side, it happened that both the accessory plug remains active until the battery is drain out.
This do not happened all the time.

I have tried various change but nothing helped.
Removing every accessory, cables, etc etc. Still, the issue happened from time to time.

I found out that, if I remove the - from the battery, the system turns off immediately and return to the normal state.

I've been told this might be caused by a wire that is there to maintain the motorbike in "standby" but I have no idea how to investigate this further.

When checking with GS 911, I have not found any relevant error in the log or actual error.

Thank a lot for your help.

Two things.
1. Those plugs are designed to stay on if someone plugs in a battery charger.
2. Did you buy the bike used? Hard wiring the under seat plug directly to the battery is very popular. The previous owner might have done that.

Rick 92040, thank for trying to help.

No, I don't think the GPS unit must remain powered while the bike is in charge. Yet, if that's the case, fair enough to have both powered.

2. Did you buy the bike used? Hard wiring the under seat plug directly to the battery is very popular. The previous owner might have done that.
The previous owner is me and the guy who had the motorbike for the period of time has not made such change or requested so. And if so, he would have asked me.
Anyway, when I took the bike back, I did a complete cleaning and dismantling of all electricity stuff to bring the motorbike to the original state.

The under seat plug is not directly connected to the battery. It goes to the CAN bus.
Yet, what is annoying is:

  • I ride long distance and have the underseat plug used to charge some devices.
  • when I unplug the accessory from the underseat plug, the bike keep it on as well as the gps plug until the battery is drained out.

I am not saying that BMW has made a poor design, I am saying that there are some problems that occurs and that I want to fix it.
;)

Greetings
